THE ORIGIN
Mewa Washing Station sits high up on the hazy slopes of West Arsi, where morning mists settling over the valleys are a common sight, hence inspiring the term “Arsi Dew”. This distinctive climate of West Arsi has helped shape the vibrant crisp coffees that are unique to Nensebo.
THE PROCESS
In the dry season, coffee cherries are carefully handpicked, pulped and wet fermented. Only 74110 and 74112 varieties are selected to ensure yearly cup consistency and quality from farmers. After washing, cherries are laid out to slowly dry on raised beds.
WHY WE CHOSE THIS COFFEE
We wanted to showcase the effects of climate and terroir on a cup profile. The white peony tea florals with bursting pink grapefruit acidity and apricot sweetness in this cup is a representation of the distinctive landscape of West Arsi.
