We’re excited to showcase the first Gesha from El Encanto, produced by Juan Saldarriaga! After many years of showcasing his coffees, we’re stoked to be able to roast & serve a Geisha, this time dried as a Honey process. Juan & his family own 2 farms, La Claudina being the 2nd one but most of the unique cultivars are grown at El Encanto. 

Over the years, Juan has made many improvements on their farms, one of them being a parabolic dryer. In this temperature-controlled environment, Juan can dry his cherries more slowly, resulting in a more defined expression of his coffees as well as a longer shelf-life. This Gesha was pulped, removing as much mucilage as possible & dried in parabolic dryers for up to 20 days. This gives the coffee a clarity that’s unlike a typical honey-processed lot, yet retaining the depth and sweetness of one.

We selected this coffee for its perfumy expression, reminiscent of the high-quality Geshas from Panama, as well as the creamy mouthfeel that we believe is unique to the Antioquia region. The coffee evolves as it cools, revealing a lingering floral aftertaste like honey blossom or elderflower, making it a truly memorable experience.
