Processed at the Kianjege Factory under the Kibirigwi Farmers Cooperative Society, this coffee represents the collective effort of approximately 6,800 smallholder members farming on the volcanic slopes of Mount Kenya, at elevations between 1,600–1,700 metres. Established in 1953, the cooperative currently manages 9 wet mills across Kirinyaga County, with Kianjege consistently producing standout lots through its disciplined processing approach.

Cherries are selectively handpicked and delivered to the wet mill the same day. At the mill, red ripe cherries are sorted from underripes, overripes, and foreign matter before pulping. The beans undergo a 16–18 hour fermentation to remove mucilage, followed by thorough washing and grading. Processing water is recycled and responsibly disposed into seepage and evaporation pits.

After washing, the parchment is sun-dried to 10.5–11.5% moisture, then sent to the dry mill for secondary processing. The result is a balanced cup with notes of sweet purple plums, smooth Darjeeling tea, and a refreshing blackcurrant leaf finish, all carried by a juicy mouthfeel.
