We're knee-deep into Rwanda season & we cannot be happier! It heartens us to experience & taste the development of Rwandan coffees since 5 years ago, we have to say we love every moment of it.

Our "MODERN" coffee this month is from a well-known project called Gitesi, from the Karongi region. This washing station was founded slightly over 15 years ago, with the focus of uplifting the local community through equitable means.

Similar to Mahembe that we've procured this year, this coffee comes from Aime's own farm rather than a communal collection of smallholder farmers. It's always interesting to experience how different these coffees turn out to be when it is separated out. In our limited experience, the flavours are more distinct and unique, compared to a general descriptor. In this case, Gitesi by Gahizi showcases a soft citric quality like lemon verbena, enhanced by a gentle red floral element which reminds us of sweet roselle!

As we begin to see more "MODERN" iterations of Rwandan coffees, we cannot help but feel excited for the future & larger potential of these coffees! We hope you will enjoy Gitesi by Gahizi as much we do!
