Our “EXPERIMENTAL” showcase this month comes from a farm we are very familiar with in Valle Del Cauca, Manantiales Del Frontino! This time with a highly sought after natural mutation of the Bourbon varietal, the Pink Bourbon!
The Pink Bourbon was first found in Colombia. While the coffee plant retained most of its usual characteristics, the cherries ripened to a vibrant and deep pink instead of the usual bright red!
The growing conditions in Manantiales have shown to be beneficial to the cultivation of this varietal and its unique taste characteristics. Growing it under shade and amongst dense, natural flora pushes forward this varietal’s big and full mouthfeel with deep and sweet fruit flavours . This particular lot was fermented underwater semi anaerobic for 60hrs before being pulped, rinsed & slow dried to showcase a high flavour clarity!
This coffee has a big and full mouthfeel, characteristic of this varietal. While the careful rinsing and drying of this coffee pushes clear and distinct sweet, fruit flavour. An easy and satisfying cup for anytime of the day! We hope you will enjoy this coffee as much as we do!
