This is our first ever “single producer” coffee from Ethiopia & we’re so excited for it! Kebede Maro owns his own small-medium coffee farm & has his own raised beds where he processes his coffees as naturals. We are starting to see a few exceptional Ethiopian coffee farmers get the recognition they deserve rather than having their crops sold to washing stations & lose their identity by being blended into larger lots.

Since a few years ago, individual farmers have been given more freedom to export their own coffees, but few know where to start. Farmer Representative Companies have started to emerge, helping to identify those who have the ability to process & sell their own coffees. These companies also ensure the level of quality that’s required based on the market requirements.

We hope to see & uncover more of these farmers who have the resources to grow, process & market their own coffees. There’s definitely the majority that still require the help & expertise of washing stations & co-operatives. Coffees that come from these stations have also been historically excellent or even exceptional, but we also see the value of understanding how an individually processed coffee from a single area of land & producer in Ethiopia can potentially taste like.
